U.S. Senator John Cornyn followed with a timely and thought-provoking presentation on “Navigating the Rule of Law and Preserving the Independence of the Judiciary Today.” His insights into the current legal and political landscape underscored the importance of maintaining judicial integrity.
Chief Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit delivered a compelling address on “Preserving the 7th Amendment.” Her remarks emphasized the enduring value of the right to trial by jury and the role of the judiciary in upholding constitutional protections.
The morning concluded with a lively and engaging conversation between political strategists Paul Begala and Karl Rove, offering bipartisan perspectives on the intersection of law, politics, and public service. Their discussion of the importance of civility, a key tenant of ABOTA, was a wonderful discussion that spoke to everyone in attendance.
